JiTT Infographics 3.02

Just in Time Teaching (JiTT) is a collection of evidence-based Infographics focusing on fundamental clinical teaching principles, such as setting expectations, questioning techniques, 5 micro-skills, bedside teaching, feedback, and coaching. Each section includes review questions to emphasize key learning points for readers, complete with ideal answers. Feedback is encouraged. Additionally, the teaching techniques are tailored to internal/family medicine, pediatrics, professionalism, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, psychiatry, neurology, well-being, ethics, and sub-specialty skills. The lessons are easily shareable.

The field of medical education heavily relies on faculty development and is transitioning towards a model that emphasizes 'Just-in-Time-Teaching' for content delivery. The utilization of technology-enhanced learning platforms is both feasible and accessible for learners in various stages of medical education, proving particularly beneficial in geographically dispersed academic health systems. JiTT infographics offer a pedagogical method to deliver timely and pertinent teaching advice to trainees and clinical faculty seeking to engage with their learners and create a strong teaching and learning environment within the patient care context.

The JiTT infographics represent an adaptable approach designed to meet the varied requirements of Resident as Teachers (RaT) programs necessary for accreditation. These infographics cater to a range of clinical specialties. Developed by faculty and trainees, the clinically specific teaching principles and skills have been well-received by learners. A pilot study that disseminated the JiTT infographics via email revealed that trainees and faculty reported high satisfaction levels with both the content and technology, along with positive feedback from trainees regarding the enhancement of their teaching skills.

Faculty members expressed that JiTT Infographics served as helpful prompts to refresh and steer their teaching interactions with trainees and students. Importantly, the JiTT infographic program has proven to be easily integrated into diverse and bustling teaching and clinical environments.
